Please Note:  The Shell Lake airport will be closed for reconstruction at 6 AM on June 9 2008, and is expected to open about the Labor Day weekend, depending on construction delays.
The reconstruction will include adding a small courtesy parking area at the NW end of the airport for transient traffic giving convenient access to four restaurants within less than 1/2 mile walk.  The runway will be widened to 75 feet, all paved surfaces will be refinished, with new pilot controlled lights and approach lighting systems installed.

The Shell Lake Municipal Airport is located in town on the shores of Shell Lake.
The paved runway is 3,700 feet long and there is a paved tie-down area spacious enough for Cubs to Jets.  Tie-down rings are imbedded in the ramp for light aircraft.  The ramp, runway and taxiways are plowed of snow and the airport is usable all year round.
The Chuck Lewis Terminal building, is open to the aviation public 24-hours a day.  The terminal area has a restroom, telephone and a weather terminal.
For navigation, there is a rotational beacon, GPS, and VOR-DME IFR approaches with pilot controlled PAPI visual glide slope indicators and runway end identification lights (REILs) for runway 32.
There are no fueling facilities.  Land is available for hangars.  For more information, please call City Hall at (715) 468-7679.
